Group/Family Counseling

Facilitates client interaction to explore feelings, values, attitudes and behavior which may contribute to drug use.

Anger Management

Helps Individuals recognize and normalize anger and teaches acceptable ways of expressing anger and stress. Clients learn to better control anger to avoid violent outbursts.

Domestic Violence

Enables victims to recognize risk and conceptualize alternatives, protect their children from direct and indirect victimization, reduce endangerment and stop domestic violence

Driving Under the Influence

Clients learn about lifestyle change, chemical dependency, traffic safety and effects of high risk behavior.

Parenting

Empowers parents with effective parenting skills through group involvement, education classes, support groups, family meetings and individual counseling.

Support Groups

Women's groups, men's groups, teen groups, Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous in English and Spanish provide peer support for individuals making life changes.

Youth Life Skills

Teaches youth skills for effective decision making. Includes Rites of Passage, Plans for Personal Change, Self Esteem and Affirmative Values.

Alcohol & Drug Education

Education to prevent youth involvement with drugs, alcohol and tobacco, and early identification and intervention for youths experimenting with drugs, alcohol and tobacco.

Community Prevention

Avalon-Carver Community Center Community Prevention Program has been providing alcohol and drug prevention services on the campuses of elementary and junior high schools since 1985.

Housing Developments

Since 1975 Avalon-Carver has been providing alcohol and drug abuse services in some of the housing developments of Los Angeles.
