The 21st Century will bring new and challenging opportunities for
Avalon-Carver Community Center. The status quo will not be
acceptable. We must create the social architecture capable of
generating the know how, innovations and expertise to bring about
positive lifestyles for people suffering from alcohol, other drugs
and mental health problems. We must provide the direction, trust and
hope for the people we are to serve.
Lawrence E. Rogers, Executive Director

Our Mission:
The mission of the
Avalon-Carver Community Center is to care for the physical, mental
and spiritual needs of individuals and families in south central Los
Angeles whose lives have been severely disrupted by the use of
alcohol and other addictive substances. It hopes to change the
attitudes and negative behaviors of it's clients for the purpose of
returning them to productive and satisfying roles within the
community. The Center hopes to effect these changes by offering a
full range of direct and supportive services that will holistically
address the needs of clients, their families and the community at large.

Our History:
The Avalon-Carver Community
Center has been a multi-service resource to low-income individuals
and families in south-central Los Angeles, CA since 1940.
Founded with community
funds, the Center has expanded over the years to offer a variety of
publicly and privately funded programs for low income families and
those impacted by the abuse of alcohol and other addictive substances.
